Is Shinde fit to be the Home Minister of India?

3 Mar

Sushil Kumar Shinde - Home Minister of IndiaThe Indian democracy has given our country a lot number of elected representatives who have done nothing for the people and have simply added shame for themselves and for the country. There are many ministers who are holding important offices in the country but fail to recognize their responsibilities and duties for which they have been elected. To a larger extent we people are also responsible for electing ministers who in no way qualify for the roles, but then what can be done also, do we Indians have any choice? Do people in big cities actually go out and vote? Do people who go to polling booths have knowledge about the candidate’s background and misdeeds? Anyways that’s a different subject all together about which any of us can write forever.

We are here to discuss about Mr Sushilkumar Shinde who is currently our Home Minister, responsible for maintaining India’s internal security and our highly respected Indian police force comes under his ambit. Apart from many good qualities, a person leading India’s senior most office like Home ministry is expected to possess at least one basic quality which is “he should be aware of what he is speaking”. Looks like our current Home Minister highly lacks that quality. On March 1, 2013, Sushilkumar Shinde during his speech in Rajya Sabha unknowingly disclosed the names of three minor girls of Bhandara in Maharashtra, who were allegedly raped and murdered recently. As per law, the name and identity of victims of rape that too minors should be kept a secret as per Supreme Court guidelines. Shinde did realise his mistake but it was too late as he had already disclosed the names, this mistake can sound silly for him to be picked on, but in an environment of rapes happening all around in the country how can a home minister forget this basic thing. Clearly proves that his old age has taken the better of him or he is just like those senseless ministers who simply read out a piece of paper without actually bothering what’s in it. How can our home minister be so dumb?

There are many such incidents which raise question marks on his ability to hold an office in Indian Ministry. Here are some more of such incidents:

1. Shinde served as Power Minister of India from 2006-2012. During the 2012 northern India power grid failure(a major blackout), Shinde deflected criticism by observing that India was not alone in suffering major power outages, as the United States and Brazil had both experienced similar blackouts within the previous few years. Invariably he told the world that we are behind US and Brazil so what the heck if we have power failure.

2. In august 2012 he taunted actor-politician Jaya Bachchan by saying “This is a serious matter. This is not the subject of a film”. Clearly proves that he forms opinion about people based on their profession, he should not forget that he started his career as a constable in Maharashtra State Police, if we go by his theory of identifying people then we can very well ask him if he was made a home minister with a constable and Sub-Inspector background?

3. In September 2012 Shinde remarked, like the Bofors scam even the Coalgate Scam will be forgotten. A proof of how serious these major corruption issues matters to him.

4. In december 2012 Shinde referred Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed in Parliament using honorifics like ‘Mr’ and ‘Shri’. He said “Mr Rehman Malik, interior minister of Pakistan has been telling us repeatedly that he had arrested Mr Hafiz Saeed thrice and that on each occasion, he was let off by the courts for lack of evidence. We had been given to understand by the interior minister of Pakistan that Mr Hafiz Saeed had been arrested on the charges of being a part of the conspiracy for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. When we pursued this matter, they have given us papers pertaining to the detentions of Shri Hafiz Saeed in 2002 and 2009″. For those who don’t know who Hafiz Saeed is, he is the mastermind behind 26/11 terrorist attack in India which took life of 168 innocent Indians. Clearly this incident shows total lack of common sense in Shinde.

5. In December 2012, Shinde gave one month deadline for Centre’ decision on Telengana but backed out as the deadline approached. A court in Andhra Pradesh even asked police to file a case against Shinde for deferring the decision of separate statehood of Telangana. Once again a proof that Shinde is definitely not a man of his words.

6. On January 20, 2013 during an All India Congress Committee(AICC) meeting in Jaipur, Shinde went a little too far while trying to impress the Congress leaders and said “Reports have come during investigation that BJP and RSS conduct terror training camps to spread terrorism. Bombs were planted in Samjhauta express, Mecca Masjid and also a blast was carried out in Malegaon. We will have to think about it seriously and will have to remain alert.” Clearly proves that Shinde can go to any level for flattering his bosses.

K Sudhakaran: Another shameful minister

19 Feb

K Sudhakaran a congress MP on Suryanelli rape caseIn India a minister can easily get away from anything, be it a rape or bribe or some act of corruption. Now a whole new trend has started by these ministers who on public forums speak unethical and irresponsible things. Somebody has to tell these ministers that they need to watch their words spoken in public, because it not only creates shame for them but also creates humiliation for the country. In yet another incident the Lok Sabha Congress MP from Kannur, K Sudhakaran made dirty comments about the girl victim of the Suryanelli rape case.

Reade more about the Suryanelli case

K Sudhakaran, during a media interaction in Muscat made comments on the victim of Suryanelli and referred her as a prostitute.  He said “Those who knew the history of the girl would understand the fact. She had several occasions to escape from the torture, but she stayed at the place of rape. What the former high court judge R Basant stated about her was true. He is an upright and bold judge. What he stated was based on the evidence. The girl had little self-respect to tell her story before the media. It is a big question whether Kerala’s conscious can accommodate this practice of making people fool”.

Sudhakaran’s statement came in support for his fellow congress man PJ Kurien who is facing serious charges in the Suryanelli rape case. It’s really hard to understand the civic sense of the Indian ministers, their level of education and the sick mentality which they display every now and then while addressing the media. Let’s assume for a moment that the girl is a prostitute, does that gives any minister like Sudhakaran to speak ill and use indecent words for the girl in public. Clearly this reflects the kind of respect these ministers have for the women in our country, the sad part is, we the people of India or the Indian judicial system can do nothing about such kind of statements made in public, especially when it comes from the mouth of powerful Indian politicians. These ministers should display at least some kind of maturity and social responsibility towards the citizens of India. It’s really sad to see such kind of people with sick mind-set sitting in our parliament and framing new laws for our country. One only wonders what kind of contribution these types of sick ministers bring to the table of parliament?

Should K Sudhakaran be immediately kicked out of Parliament?

Sushilkumar Shinde: Indian Home Minister gone crazy

23 Jan

Sushilkumar Shinde Home Minister of India - CartoonBefore we start blasting Mr. Shinde for his shameful remark, let’s try and understand what office he is holding in the current ministry of India. Mr. Shinde is a politician from the state of Maharashtra and is currently the Minister of Home Affairs in the Sonia-Manmohan government. The Minister of Home Affairs commonly referred to as the Home Minister is regarded as number two in seniority, next to the Prime Minister of India. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who actually could have been the first prime minister of India after the independence, was the first home minister of India. The importance of Home Minister in India is proven by the fact that the portfolio in past have been held by many former prime ministers and presidents of India. India’s police force comes under the office of the Home Minister.

On January 20, 2013 during an All India Congress Committee(AICC) meeting in Jaipur, Shinde went a little too far while trying to impress the Congress leaders and gave a shameful statement which in a way humiliated the office of Home Ministry and raised question marks on his capabilities of being the Home Minister of India. He said “Reports have come during investigation that BJP and RSS conduct terror training camps to spread terrorism. Bombs were planted in Samjhauta express, Mecca Masjid and also a blast was carried out in Malegaon. We will have to think about it seriously and will have to remain alert.” BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is another Indian political party and is also the biggest opposition party against the ruling Congress party. While Mr. Shinde was trying to impress his party men by speaking against the opposition party, he had no idea about the magnitude of impact his statement would have on the people of India. Naturally BJP and RSS were quite upset by his remarks; most importantly the remarks had the potential to disrupt the peace and harmony of the country. Clearly Mr. Shinde with his statement wanted to win the hearts of minority Muslims of India who according to him have been at times mistakenly dragged into terrorism acts which were actually executed by the people trained by BJP and RSS.

Shinde’s remark went international when Mumbai attacks mastermind and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed for whom the US has announced a $10 million bounty, told a press conference in Lahore that India always resorted to propaganda against Pakistani organizations but it now stood “exposed”. Congress party, who initially supported Shinde’s statement, after the uproar in media, is now trying to distance itself from the Home Minister. Home Secretary RK Singh who reports to Shinde, in an effort to rescue his boss said “We have names of at least 10 persons involved in Samjhauta Express, Mecca Masjid and Dargah Sharif blasts who were associated with the RSS.”

It’s a shame that a minister whose prime job is to maintain law and order in the country comes up with a statement which can disturb the peace of our country. Thankfully we Indians are now mature enough to understand that such kinds of statements by ministers don’t have any ethical value. Gone are the days when the ministers’ values and actions were given the prime importance by the Indian citizens. Common man on the street knows the kind of games these minister play to stay in office for few more years. We Indians very well know the dual standards of these ministers and their provocative words; it makes us even more sad to see the kind of people running our country.

Rahul Gandhi elevated to number two position in Congress: An Indian affair or a family affair?

22 Jan

Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi cartoon pictureFinally Rahul Gandhi has been appointed as the vice president of the congress party and formally elevated to number two position in the party. Since the independence India has been mostly ruled by the Nehru dynasty or the so called Gandhi family and with the congress party’s vice president announcement it’s quite evident that India has to still go through dynasty domination for many more years to come. Family power politics is nothing new to India; Indian parliament which is full of relatives is by far the strongest proof that the family name plays much more important role in politics than individual qualities or merits.

While the Congress party men are gung-ho about their new leader and trying to project this as breaking news, it hasn’t mattered much to the people of India as everyone was pretty much aware of this to happen at some point or the other. They say that Rahul Gandhi is now numbers two, we already believe he is number one and for good or bad reasons we also know that someday India will surely see Rahul Gandhi being crowned as the Prime Minister. Despite the all time low popularity of Congress party it’s a much known fact that no other political party than congress has the power or the money to form the ruling party in our country. It’s a very well-known fact that elections in India are won by only one thing and that is money, for a simple corporation or MLA election the candidates spend crores of money to win votes, just because the return profits are limitless, the candidates end up spending money like water for their election campaigns. Imagine the kind of money heap the congress party especially the Nehru family must be sitting on as they have ruled the country for maximum tenure. So without a doubt congress will be the leading party in India for many more years to come.

The Congress party is trying to project their vice president’s decision as the party decision, we Indians very well know that it’s the family affair of probably the richest political family in India to whom no one can dare to point back any fingers. It’s unfortunate that India will still have to go through the same ideologies which have leaded us to our downfall. They say we are developed and on the right track, but we Indians on the streets very well know where we are and wonder if ever we can come out of this mess gifted to us by the dynasties of rich and powerful politicians.

Watch Rahul Gandhi’s emotional speech as Congress party’s Vice president:

Do you accept Rahul Gandhi as India’s future Prime Minister?

Gopal Kanda’s shameless birthday celebration

2 Jan

Gopal Kanda in Jail - Cartoon by Kushal BhattacharyaWhile India has still not overcome the agony of Delhi gang rape, here is an incident which proves that ministers of India are really not serious about the crime against women of India. Gopal Goyal Kanda a former home minister of Haryana state who is currently in jail for harassing his airline’s former employee Geetika Sharma to an extent that she committed suicide, was praised shamelessly on his 47th birthday by group of ministers who gathered at the Tara Baba complex in Haryana for Kanda’s birthday celebrations. Haryana Minister for Labour and Employment Shiv Charan Sharma, Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Fatehabad MLA Prahalad Singh Gillankhera and Panipat MLA OP Jain along with a paid crowd of supporters, on December 29, 2012 joined together at a function to celebrate the birthday of former minister Gopal Kanda who is in jail for his alleged involvement in the suicide of former air hostess Geetika Sharma.

The three ministers who are supporting Bhupinder Singh Hooda government of Haryana praised Kanda at his 47th birthday ceremony. Shiv Charan Sharma, a congress leader categorized the Geetika Sharma case as a small one and supported Kanda by referring the dead victim as a servant mistakenly hired by Kanda. Sharma further said “His birthday is being celebrated in jail and in Delhi also. Gopal Kanda is always amongst us. He doesn’t get afraid of anything. He doesn’t fear anyone”. Sharma also referred Kanda as a brave and honest person who has been falsely accused by those who are jealous of his extra-ordinary growth in life.

Isn’t this a shame that a person who initially went underground before surrendering against police, is now been treated as hero by his colleague ministers. Really makes us sad for the people of Haryana who are being ruled by such insensitive and low grade ministers. Currently CBI is inquiring the Geetika Sharma suicide case and we are sure that in few months Gopal Kanda will be again out on streets, in public and free of all charges. When the ministers who contribute towards the law reforms of the country are themselves talking highly about the people like Kanda, who the whole India knows is corrupt and a womanizer, how can we assume that this country will change and will bring reforms in the life of Indian Women?

Ministers praising Gopal Kanda should be punished?

Rs 2 crore spent for President Pranab Mukherjee’s one hour visit

31 Dec

President Pranab Mukherjee's one hour expense by Karnataka Ministers - Image India TodayRs 198 lakh of Indian taxpayers’ money was spent in the name of renovations when President of India Pranab Mukherjee visited Belgaum to inaugurate the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in October 2012. The information was released by public works department (PWD) after an RTI application was filed by activist Bheemappa Gadad from Mudalagi in Gokak taluk.

Most of the money, Rs.1.61 crore was spent on renovating an old circuit house where the President stayed for hardly an hour. Rs.37 lakh was spent on refurbishing the main suite of the circuit house in which the President stayed for under an hour. Curtains cost Rs.5 lakh, while Rs.6 lakh was spent on the bathroom tiles, toilet doors and locks. Rs.7.5 lakh was incurred on buying bed sheets, towels and other kits while Rs.4 lakh was spent on portraits to decorate the circuit house. There are two circuit houses in Belgaum, the other was already renovated during the World Kannada Meet in 2011. The government so far had already spent Rs.50 lakh on the other circuit house. The money this time was spent on the second circuit house in which the President opted to stay because of its proximity to Suvarna Vidhana Soudha building.

The president of India obviously made a costly choice of using the wrong circuit house for his stay which forced the Karnataka ministers to spend a whopping amount towards face-lifting and renovation. According to Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurements Act, 1999 the Public Works Department (PWD) should have invited competitive bids from contractors to execute civil works as the cost exceeded Rs. 4 lakh. So far it’s not clear if any competitive bidding took place for the repairs and maintenance of the Circuit House. It’s a shame that in a country where 80% of people earn $2 per day, the ministers of India are spending such a hefty amount for no major reason.

Most of the ministers in India spend taxpayers' money on useless things?

Congress MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary involved in a Woman murder

27 Dec

Congress MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary charged for murderYet another case of shame and injustice towards Woman in India, this time a newly elected MLA Congress leader Ram Kumar Chaudhary from the Doon constituency in Himachal Pradesh is charged for murdering 24 year old Jyoti Rani. According to Jyoti’s father Buti Ram she was handling Chaudhary’s financial matters during Assembly elections.

Jyoti was found murdered at Sector 21 in Panchkula on November 21, 2011. Investigations have revealed that Ram Kumar Chaudhary was in regular touch with her and was calling her from SIM cards procured on fake addresses and identities. The SIM card dealer Asheeh Kumar confirmed that he issued the cards on fake addresses to Chaudhary, dealer has been living in Baddi, the same area to which the MLA belongs. Police said that the location of Chaudhary’s original number on the day of the murder had been tracked closer to the site where the girl was found murdered. All the numbers used by Chaudhary and the other accused and that of the girl had been switched off. After being booked in a murder the newly-elected legislator Ram Kumar Chaudhary has gone underground.

It’s really sad to see people responsible for protecting people are themselves committing such horrendous crime. The congress party should have come out in public and kicked out the tainted legislator from party and should have completely disassociated him, but why will they do such a bold act? Was it not known to the congress party that Chaudhary has murder case against him and he should not be allowed to contest using party’s ticket? It’s not yet proven that Chaudhary is the culprit and surely it will take another ten years to prove him guilty or most probably after few years he will be left for not enough evidences, by that time the case would be forgotten and Chaudhary would have become even more powerful with his arms deep rooted enough in the dirty political soil that nobody would dare point figures at him.

Are Indian politicians responsible for increase in crime?

Himachal Pradesh 2012 elections: Does anyone really care about corruption?

21 Dec

Himachal Pradesh elects corrupt Virbhadra SinghPeople’s verdict is out; Congress party led by the corrupt 78 year old minister Virbhadra Singh has won 36 seats out of 68 in the Assembly elections 2012. Five months before the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, on June 26, 2012, Virbhadra Singh resigned from Union minister as a consequence of corruption charges being pressed against him. Virbhadra Singhs’ tax returns and affidavit of assets filed for nomination to the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections in 2012 came under scanner after unaccounted cash entries emerged from the documents he filed. His original I-T returns for the year 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 showed the net agricultural income of Rs. 7,34,000, Rs. 15,00,000 and Rs. 25,00,000 respectively, but the revised I-T returns filed on March 2, 2012 showed increase in income for 2009, 2010, 2011 to Rs. 2,21,35,000, Rs. 2,80,92,500 and Rs. 1,55,00,000. After his account came under scrutiny of tax authorities, Virbhadra Singh admitted filing of revised I-T returns in 2012 for the year 2009, 2010, 2011 by one Anand Chauhan who manages his farms and invests the proceeds from sale of apples in government securities, Mutual Funds, LIC schemes to ensure safe and better returns. It was found that between 2008 and 2010 Anand Chauhan deposited around Rs. 5 crore in cash in his Punjab National Bank account in Shimla and also made deposits by cheque for LIC premiums totalling roughly Rs. 5 crore in favour of Virbhadra Singh, his wife Pratibha Singh and two children, Aparajita Kumari and Vikramaditya Singh. In October 2012 when Virbhadra Singh was questioned by media persons about these allegations against him, his reply was “I will break your cameras. Don’t you have any other work to do?”

Now the same man stands tall and can be the next chief minister of Himachal Pradesh. Isn’t it a real shame to see corrupt people like him coming into power. The person who should be in jail will now dictate his own terms and will enjoy his life for another five years and that too on taxpayers’ money. Who should be held accountable for such ministers coming into power? People of Himachal Pradesh who voted for him or the Congress party who even after knowing the history of Virbhadra Singh, pushed him to lead the Congress election campaign in the state. It’s really a sad moment for the people of Himachal Pradesh that they were left with no choices than voting for a tainted minister. God only knows if the votes were genuinely voted or bought? One thing is clear that corruption will probably never leave our country as the political party leaders are only interested in winning elections and not interested in providing the kind of leadership required to drive modern India.

Are Indian politicians really serious against corruption?

Is CBI the puppet of Indian Government?

17 Dec

CBI Cartoon- Following commands from Congress Leader - Image:cartoonistsatish.blogspot.inTime and again many individuals and political parties have accused Government of India misusing CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) for their own hidden motives. The issue got highlighted again when UPA government won the majority on FDI in retail in both the houses of parliament. Opposition leader Sushma Swaraj accused congress of threatening Mulayam and Mayawati using the secret CBI weapon to gain their votes in favour of the government.

The truth of the matter is CBI for sure works for the government as it comes under the Prime Minister’s office. We all know how diligently and blindly our great Prime Minister Manmohan Singh follows the congress high command, so no wonder CBI as well follows his footsteps. Recently a former CBI director Uma Shankar Mishra in public said “political pressure is there when the agency probes into some political bigwigs”. Mishra was supported by another former CBI director Joginder Singh who said that even he had faced political pressure during his tenure when he was probing BSP chief Mayawati in a disproportionate assets case. He also said that the officers, who are probing SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, will also face political pressure. Mishra also said that the progress reports of such cases are at times influenced by the top government officials. Since CBI is directly under the government, the agency is always under pressure if they are probing the high profile cases.

Here are some of the allegations against CBI and instances where Congress party has played the CBI threatening card to their advantage:

  1. Mulayam and Mayawati despite speaking against FDI in retail in Lok Sabha supported UPA government with their actions/votes in favour of FDI in retail.
  2. Karunanidhi, despite going through utter humiliation in 2G scam ends up standing behind the UPA.
  3. Everything was fine between YSRC President Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy and Congress until Sakshi TV channel owned by Y. S. Bharati, wife of Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, aired an hour-long program defaming Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. Following that, the CBI accused Jaganmohan Reddy of having disproportionate assets and charged him under multiple sections.
  4. After getting a clean chit in the Taj Heritage Corridor case in 2007, Mayawati accused the UPA government of using the CBI to drag her unnecessarily in the disproportionate asset case as a revenge for her act of withdrawing support to UPA.
  5. IPS officer Geeta Joshi in Gujarat alleged in August 2010 that CBI, during the investigation of the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, pressurized her to falsely implicate former Gujarat Minister Amit Shah in the case to harass the BJP government.
  6. Illegal mining activities by Reddy brothers in Karnataka was for long in the knowledge of the Centre. It is alleged that the government used the CBI to put the Reddy brothers behind bars due to their closeness with BJP.
  7. CBI closed all cases against Jagdish Tytler in March 2009 for his alleged criminal conspiracy to engineer riots against Sikhs in the aftermath of Indira Gandhi’s assassination on October 31, 1984. CBI, in its charge-sheet, claimed that Jasbir Singh, who is supposed to have heard Tytler inciting a mob to kill Sikhs, could not be examined as he had settled in America and his whereabouts couldn’t be traced. The CBI’s claim got falsified when media telephonically located Jasbir Singh in no time. After the case was ordered to be re- investigated by the court, CBI reportedly submitted that Jasbir Singh’s testimony cannot be relied upon and asked the court to close the case. The entire incident happened to save Tytler, who has had close ties with the ruling government. Congress party dropped Tytler as congress candidate for Lok Sabha 2009 elections.
  8. CBI charges on BSP supremo Mayawati regarding disproportionate assets case were suddenly dropped after she lost the UP polls. CBI said that it made a “grave error” while calculating assets of Mayawati.

There must be many more instances not known to the people of India regarding the misuse of CBI by the Indian Government. CBI is definitely a puppet of Indian Government and the time has come to make CBI an independent constitutional authority like the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor Genera) and EC (Election Commission).  The big question, is anyone listening?

Is CBI puppet of Indian Government?

Gujarat Congress malnutrition campaign shows Sri Lankan child

1 Dec

Gujarat Congress uses image of Sri Lankan flood victim baby for malnutrition

Picture as posted on Congress Party’s website

Indian National Congress on their website (joinhandsforchange.org) which they call it as an initiative to bring facts to light and to the notice of the people of Gujarat have posted a controversial picture on their website, showing a severely malnourished child under the malnutrition section.

Funny part is the picture they have posted is copied and edited from a website (www.amyand.com) which happens to be a church website. The controversial picture was taken from a section of the church’s website which was seeking help from their users, post the Sri Lankan flood in February 2012.

Sri Lankan flood victim

Original picture on the Amyand Park Chapel website

A congress spokesperson on TV said that picture is the free livestock image which can be used by anyone. When we compare both the images it’s pretty obvious that they have taken the picture from the church’s website, modified it and posted it on their website.

It’s really a shame to see the extent to which Indian political parties can go to win the elections, from outside it looks like a small issue but it seriously raises question marks on the values our Indian politicians follow.

Does this incident hurts the feeling of India and Gujarat?
